First of all I dont get the rules, you know, with the Innings and Strikes and Balls and 2 Out and whatever, that is really confusing. But the real shitty thing is that games take so long and nothing happens. i mean you maybe get 1 homerun per game, maybe 20 to 30 flying balls (as in the guy with the stick actually hits the ball) and about 10 completed runs or points or whatever. Now, you could do all that in about 20 to 40 minutes and you dont need 3 or 4 hours for it! Seriously... No offense to Baseball fans, but i really really dont get it!

there was a time that I also didn't get it. Then it just clicked. I'd say you have to pick a team to follow. That way you get to know the players and then the stats. To me baseball is way more fun if you can begin to compare the stats across the board.
Sure there are seemingly dull moments, but they're not really. There's a great psychological duel that is going on between the pitcher and the batter. If you watch the greats do battle then you'll get a better idea of what's going on.
It's a strategic game with simple rules that offers a lot of excitement. Once you see a ninth inning comeback you'll understand the passion.
I always recommend non baseball fans to try watching any of the Ken Burns Baseball documentary to get a picture of the history and impact baseball has had. You will definitely have an interest after that.

I am a lifelong baseball player and fan, so i get it and understand what jason is sayin. To you teddylong i would suggest hookin up with someone who knows the game and having them teach you how to keep the stat book. That really helps to understand the game and you will see that a lot more goes on than you think.

All Baseball means is that I'm in the home stretch to watch my Cowboys again.
Fuck Baseball.

Well, yeah if you follow it closely someone may start to like it but I also think that it is strange that they have games so often. But still so many people are wtaching it every day or so. In other sports you have your games during the weekend and afterwards you anticipate next weekends games and so on... It is just different in Baseball

I dont get football either... it is more time waiting for action than action itself! Why cant you just play 80 or 90 minutes and call it a night?? I went to a Euro League game last year and me and my mates were literally bored to death and left after one hour

I went to a Euro League game last year and me and my mates were literally bored to death and left after one hour It's just one of those cultural things I suppose. Americans and Canadians were raised up on the American brand of football. So the starting and stopping as you Euros call it is just part of the game to us. The time in between plays is used to get lined up, call plays, and make substitutions. It has very much to do with the strategy of the game.

I'm a big fan of the closest minor league affiliate to me (Lexington Legends), I love to go out to the ballpark and hang for an afternoon, enjoy the food etc. I don't have a fucking clue who is on the team or what the stats are, etc. I'm just there for a good time with friends and family.
I'll watch baseball if it's the All-Star Game or the World Series final game. I don't get all the stats, but I do get the basics, and the championship game you got the best players at their peak performance usually. I like watching competitive teams be competitive.
Other than that, I don't give a FUCK about baseball, it's boring as shit, I'd rather go fuck myself with a fist full of nettles. I'm a life-long Colts fan.

The Mariners are doing well, baseball is probably my favorite sport. I am a stat mark though. In baseball, stats mean more than in any other sport.

Yea baseball is one of things if your not brought up on it then later its harder to watch. I understand how people can think its boring but all the stuff in the middle can be interesting if you get into to it. I love the coverage, baseball probaly has the best guys covering the game in terms of reporters. I could listen Peter Gammons talk for hours.

I can't talk much though because my Tigers were supposed to lose 50 games all season, not 47 by the all-star break. I agree with you on Baseball being a stat-freak's dream though. Baseball is a thinking man's game -- the scenarios involved and the numbers that are behind them get pretty detailed.

I meant to say "If The Mariners are doing well"... I know they are the worst team in MLB this year.
