Topic is as follows. . .
I'm thinkin this guy is the biggest tease in pro sports right now. His replacement (Aaron Rodgers) is left wondering if he'll see a snap this season while ESPN has wet themselves with all of this Favre-gate coverage.
It's fuckin horrible if you ask me and I hope that he does play again -- only to be carried off of the field in a stretcher. Favre should've just asked for his release instead of using the retirement card.
Other than that -- Go Lions in 2008

Why is everyone hating on Farve? If this was Jordan it would be all good.

but man Favre is playin the Packers. They don't want him and he has said that he wants nothing to do with grooming his successor. He is just bored as shit and wants to play ball again. If he wasn't just doin it for himself it would be different.

But even Jordan's retirements (2nd and 3rd) were met with some skepticism. You could blame Jordan for opening the door on the "coming back from retirement" gimmick. But Magic Johnson did it too. Jordan didn't kill anyone's career in the process. Meanwhile here is Aaron Rodgers, who's been sittin quietly for a chance to play and Farve is essentially saying, "naw . . .I'm not quite done yet."
I don't know what Rodgers' contract is like but I'm sure it was loaded with incentive based bonuses. In my opinion, by pulling this stunt -- Favre is fucking with another man's potential money. Never cool

exactly dizzle...if Favre wasn't being selfish it would be different....the right thing to do would be to come back as a back-up (if anything) and help Rodgers to develop and lead the Pack into the playoffs and possibly beyond...don't just come back for yourself.

Where is the respect for Brett Farve? Man is a HOFER and was just in a NFC championship. It wasn't like he was 4-12 and done. I don't get it, I am a big time Cowboys fan so I am not to emotionally attached to the situation. I just think if that was Troy fucking Aikman and he wanted to comeback after a winning season dude could come back whenever he wants to.

i guess people are just pissed because he is coming off like he is doing this ONLY for his own pleasure... not for the fans or the team or even because he wants another ring...but just because he has nothing better to do...imo

He's a drama queen and he seems love grabbing the football reporters by the balls. He's proven that over the last couple of off-seasons. It's a lot like the issues with Chad Johnson this-offseason. People gave him the benefit of the doubt on being a douchebag until he pushed to the point where it could no longer be ignored.

What I don't understand is everyone is all pissed of at Brett for maybe not retiring, and screwing with Rodgers money and career, but is Favre still under contract? Technically, he doesn't owe anyone anything by retiring. Rodgers signed to a team where he knew Favre(greatest statistical QB of all time) was under contract, well past 2008. I don't know, I understand that Aaron Rodgers is a young kid that is supposed to get his shot, but it's Brett Fucking Favre. He can basically do whatever he wants.

The problem here isn't Brett Farve, it's the Packers who are being the douchebags. Farve's made it pretty clear he doesn't want to play for them anymore. He's done all he can for them, he put that team on his back and packed them to the NFC Championship last year, he doesn't want to do it again. I truly believe that he felt he was done and ready for retirement, but has now decided he can go for another season. But not with the Packers.
The Packers should do the honorable thing and let him go, wherever he wants. He's given them his life, the Packers are just afraid that if he goes to a better team, or a team within their division, he'll end up embarrassing them. The Packers don't want public shame and humiliation. To paraphrase some lyrics from a country song, he may not be as good as he once was, but he's as good once as he ever was. Put Farve with the right combination of guys and he'll stomp a mudhole in your ass.
The Packers have put themselves in this position. On one hand they don't want to let Farve go to a team where he will beat their asses and ruin their chances at another NFC Championship or a Super Bowl. On the other hand, they don't want to piss of Packer faithful who are also endeared to Farve. One of these two view are going to have to bow out, and if they choose to keep Farve, they will in fact be the ones screwing Aaron Rodgers. So now they'll have not only Farve pissed at them for keeping him on a team he doesn't want to be on, but Rodgers is going to be pissed at them for not doing the right thing by him. That's going to do a LOT for team harmony and will probably kill the Packers' entire season more than Farve going to another team will.

I think both Favre and the Packers are handling this horribly. I'm more or less angry with the whole situation only because a Favre-less NFC North actually meant that the lions had the best shot of coming out of the division with something in the neighbourhood of an 8-8 record.
Obviously Favre still has something in the tank. But the retirement angle was a cop-out in my opinion. At this point of his career, Favre doesn't owe the Packers shit -- it would've been better for him to ask for his release or to be traded. People also seem to forget that it was 3 years ago that Favre had his worst statistical season. So it's not even guaranteed that the Favre of last year will continue in 2008. This drama does not help the packers because they have made progress in preparing to go forward with Rodgers. Going back to a system with Favre shouldn't screw things up, but it might take a while for the offense to get their timing in sync.
Essentially I'm just tired of going on to ESPN.com and seeing Favre's mug with a headline like, "What is brett doing now"
